We've fixed this issue on the testing cluster by deleting all of the existing AndroidVariant CRs, and then recreating the CRD (it would have been blocked from being deleted by the existence of CRs).

It's not clear what caused the CRD to be marked for deletion, someone could have accidentally done that or something.
