This really only pertains to the Admin UI for navigation purposes.
when navigating back from an installations detail to a variant, i need to know the platform type. the "model" that is available to me at this point in time is an installation model, which only has those optional fields, which can somewhat vary. So there is no way for me to reliably know if it's android, iOS ,....
example: i didn't add any metadata to an example app i had, so i couldn't determine the platform type, so my link was broke
