I understand that the less dependencies we have, the best. But if we're able to create a custom jQuery build and include only the jQuery modules we want (http://projects.jga.me/jquery-builder/), then what's value of removing jQuery? For example what would be the difference between an AeroGear implementation of an AJAX lib and the jQuery Ajax module itself?
