For legal reasons it is often handy to include the following files into the META-INF folder of the JAR file:

• license (the license of the code),
• notice (e.g. copyright notice)
• dependencies (contains a convenient list of used dependencies and their licenses)

The maven remote resources plugin does that, and is even customisable if a different template is needed
