Just my two cents but I don't think we should invest time into this.

Like Wojciech Trocki says we give the developers the tools to catch this case themselves - we just didn't implement this in the showcase application. The easiest fix is to increase the number of retries to a large number, but failing that the developer also has hooks into operations to retry them if necessary.
