Total aside, but this is one of those odd cases where work in a team is being worked on by external team folks - something we'll need to be careful of, as the team committed. Obviously want your input, but I think as AP it would sit with me a little better if someone in Core "owned" shipping this (with contribs from yourself!). Does that make sense?
