what exactly would it be confused with? If you downloaded the sources and playing around with them, then maybe there would be some confusion since the folder that holds the different types is named adapter. But for a regular developer who is just using the lib, i think type is fine. I think the pay off of this change wouldn't equal the amount of time for deprecation, refactor, etc..
