hehe, I agree their docs are a bit sucky and I already fear of other 'funny' issues once we move to XMPP instead of HTTP for GCM.

BTW. I found their doc in the past confusing as well - not sure why I picked ERROR_INVALID_REGISTRATION back than, but it worked, however I clearly missed the uninstall
