paul wright I might be half remembering, but there was a time when we were focusing on the Native SDKs and the JS SDK wasn't going to get support for UPS. UPS provides an extra layer of device registration (IE categories, device type, aliasing) that is above what the usual cross section of APNS and firebase is, but the trade off is that our SDK has to manage the relationship with UPS. It is possible that code hasn't been brought to the js sdk at the time of writing the docs. It is possible that has changed.
