Where could I find it? In my Java code for sending push notification or in aerogear configuration tool?

Another way I was thinking about was to use the message content to send client a complex set of metadata, containing not only the message text, but eventually an id for the sent notification or even something else...

I think you may try to look for eventID - if you make it a constant, the ios
client should only receive the latest push message.
