What we really need to do, I think, is create a proper front-end SPI that uses the
MessageBus in the implementation to do all the communication with the Workspace layout
system. That was kind of what I was trying to do before. This will make it a lot easier
to maintain, and also support the federability aspects we talked about earlier.

I like this idea. I think it would be extremely to maintain and change when needed.

yes. the approach I am currently taking is
a) make it work
b) provide an SPI/API a top it
a) is what I am working on at the moment. it's the process of adding the bpm console
requirements to the current workspace codebase. During this phase I don't spend much
time thinking
about proper API.
once everything works as it used to be, I would go ahead and clean it up, which results in
an API.
I hope this approach makes sense to you.
