Here's an example of open source themes for bootstrap:

I also like their mission. They are recognizing that many sites are starting to look the same and they want to help address that issue without trying to monetize it.

There is also http://bootswatch.com/ if you just want to get some different colors applied.

Keep in mind that there is more to this than a website design (though it is important). The "content strategy" part of it often gets swallowed. There is a big difference between a site that has lorem ipsum text and one that really resonates because the right content is in the right places. IMO, that's what a designer can help you achieve that buying an off the shelf site cannot.

...so it's reasonable to start with an off the shelf design (likely an open source or CC design), but you'll still need someone to drive the overall project, and setup a workflow for maintaining it. As I've said often w/ the Arquillian site, the website is part of the source code of the project.

That's a pretty good idea, there are some nice (and cheap) design out there.
We still have the jboss.org styling issue though (we're supposed to use the jboss.org header etc), what are we going to do with that?

George, my wife is a webdesigner. Will talk with her today, and see if
she can help the project.
