note that if your URL has 'or' in it... e.g.
jdbc:oracle:thin:@or-1111.db.yoursite.org:1521:blah
the parser doesn't like the 'or'... so you can put the whole thing in
single-quotes and it will work.
i suspect that other reserved words may cause similar issues.
