[JBoss JIRA] (FORGE-687) PromptType.JAVA_PACKAGE should support default package
by Lincoln Baxter III (JIRA)

Lincoln Baxter III commented on FORGE-687:
------------------------------------------
Good idea. This should not be difficult to achieve, simply by adjusting the regex here: https://github.com/forge/core/blob/master/shell-api/src/main/java/org/jbo...
Want to give it a shot?

> If you want to prompt the user to provide some valid java package you'd specify PromptType.JAVA_PACKAGE. Unfortunately this prompt type considers the empty string as invalid package even though I'd argue that this is the default package.
> If I ask the user for the package, scaffolded resources would get created to, I'd do:
> {code}
> prompt.promptCommon(target package: ", PromptType.JAVA_PACKAGE, project.getFacet(JavaSourceFacet.class).getBasePackageResource().toString())
> {code}
> If I have no valid packageResource (ex. forge would return an invalid base package) I'd want to suggest the user to put his sources into the default package (for a maven project: src/main/java). I'd then feed a "" as default to the prompt:
> {code}
> prompt.promptCommon(target package: ", PromptType.JAVA_PACKAGE, "")
> {code}
> Unfortunately the PromptType.JAVA_PACKAGE would not validate the empty string. It would tell me that this is not a valid package.

[JBoss JIRA] (FORGE-789) Forge does not reload resources in JAR files in windows
by Lincoln Baxter III (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/FORGE-789?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Lincoln Baxter III commented on FORGE-789:
------------------------------------------
This shouldn't be possible. Every installed addon gets a unique module ID and a completely new class-loader. Are you sure about this? I've used this feature many times (though technically not very recently.)

> I am building a plugin, so when I make changes to template files or code changes I rebuild my plugin using
> forge source-plugin <<path to plugin>>
> This does recompile the code but does not update the resources contained in that module. I have to exit the forge shell and reenter to have them apply.

> Having the following scenario:
> Eclipse plugin -> calls ConverterFactory -> passes Resource.class as a parameter
> {code:java}
> ConverterFactory.getConverter(File.class, Resource.class)
> {code}
> in ResourceConverterGenerator (resources addon):
> {code:java}
> @Override
> public boolean handles(Class<?> source, Class<?> target)
> {
> return Resource.class.isAssignableFrom(target);
> }
> {code}
> Returns false, because the classloader that loaded the Resource class is the Eclipse classloader, not the Resource addon classloader AND Resource.class is not visible in the convert addon.

> Like in OSGi (shudder,) when looking up services from the ServiceRegistry, it should be possible to require that services retrieved from the ServiceRegistry be locked to a specific addon API version (via addon-dependency/classloader mapping.)
> {code}
> (A) -> (B, v1)
> -> Service 1
> (B, v2)
> -> Service 1v2
> -> Service 2v1
> {code}
> A should receive only the instance of Service 1 from (B, v1)
