Not only, debugging from inside Maven force you to add strange dependencies on classes yet
on the JDK, so sure using -debug is a best practice.
The "Debugging Section" on Forge website should encourage
the use of --debug

Thanks to FORGE-556, it is possible to debug forge using the "--debug" flag.
This should be encouraged on the Docs in forge.jboss.org
