Ok, makes sense now. Any pairing will then be done by GitHub via email match. Thanks for clarifying.

Maybe it's best then to either use an email already associated with my GitHub account or add the new email to my GitHub account (you can have multiple emails associated).

it's not related to GitHub directly (although GitHub uses it)

you need to look at your .gitconfig and select one identity, for instance I have:

[user]
        name = Julien Viet
        email = julien@julienviet.com

so the resulting B value is "Julien Viet <julien@julienviet.com>"

That would mean that you do GitHub account pairing based on email, so I have to enter exactly the same email as I have configured on GitHub, right?

there are two columns :

A : svn user name
B : git "name + email"

Yes, but how do you know to pair 'techie' svn user with 'wiseguy' GitHub user account :)

There's only one spreadsheet column for ID - Column A I presume, containing GitHub username.

There's no svn username column so do you know these by heart for everyone?

chose the one you want to be involved with "gatein" as open source community project.

at the end svn-git migration use this information to fill in the commit metadata.

So if I had JBoss Community svn account: 'techie'

And GitHub account: 'wiseguy'

And I sometimes use John Doe <john@john.com>, and other times John Doe <john@jboss.org> in my git config.

How would I fill out this spreadsheet then?

Just curious ...

I already filled up in.

(also done for Bolek and Thomas 2 identities).

there isn't my account information in there. do you need mine ?

Anyway, here we go :

[user]
        name = Tran The Trong
        email = trongtt@gmail.com

Hi,

we are working on the migration of the portal svn repository to GIT and we need to link the svn identifiers to git identities.

I need your help to complete those (some may be out dated).

I published an online excel sheet to allow anyone to edit this file and correct the identity.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvM_noOJ_w0cdFJ3QXgxUEJnS0dRVUtCMy1rNGhjY3c

Please edit the file to change your ID to the correct Git identity.

If you have already a GitHub account you can link with your existing GitHub account, otherwise you should create an account.

The original values are like this:

julien_viet = julien_viet < julien_viet@mycompany.com>

It should be corrected to

julien_viet = Julien Viet <julien@julienviet.com>

that is taken from the .gitconfig file

[user]
       name = Julien Viet
       email = julien@julienviet.com

I need the identities to be corrected as soon as possible :-)

*anyone* with the link can edit the file.

thanks

Julien
