From my point of view, the only thing that we can do to limit the risk is to change the name of the starter war/ear for something like STARTER

I can assure it is configured right. But it cannot run after deploy to GateIn portal. And I find out the reason is the extension name (!!!). wcm-extension < starter, so it will be deployed after starter.war, and starter.war cannot read configuration in wcm-extension.war. After i rename it to ecm-wcm-extension, it can run well, but i guess that's not a best solution.
