this is actually an issue with how resources are handled, when we fetch a resource, if an
error occurs we just log the error message with no indication to the user that something
went wrong.

When a portlet which uses the bridge encounters a time out, its not handled properly.
When the user clicks on a link after a timeout, there is no indication to the user that
something when wrong and there are many errors logged to the server log.
