Matt Wringe commented on GTNPORTAL-976:
---------------------------------------
It would also be nice if it told you what were the allowed symbols, other than making the
user guess.
if I try and use "white&rabbit_new.temp4-2010", I should get an error
message because it contains an ampersand, but the other special characters should be fine.
The error message needs to reflect which part is bad
If for example people have two first names, they can use a space to separate them in the
field, or just use one of their names. I am sure most people in this situation have run
into this problem many times and know how to handle it
We do have a problem if people only have 1 name (ie no surname) or if the person is
denoted by a special symbol instead of a name :)
special symbols in dialogue window

Key: GTNPORTAL-976
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/GTNPORTAL-976
Project: GateIn Portal
Issue Type: Bug
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Affects Versions: 3.0.0-GA
Environment: FF 3.5.4, openSuse 11.2, jdk 1.6, jboss-server, hsql db
Reporter: Arthur Peltier
Priority: Optional
- Input value for User Name, contains alpha, digit, underscore and dot, dash characters
in the middle (e.g: brice.revenant or alli_test)
- Input values for other required fields
- Click Save
Result :
when you insert in First Name or Last Name some notallowed symbols, it shows in dialog
window, that special symbols shouldn't be used. but, for example, white&rabbit -
will be mistake and u'll get an alert window, and if you use white-rabbit - it will be
fine. i think dialog window should be changed in some sort: "Please, use allowed
special symbols". P.S. some people have double name or surname (:
