Resolution: Cannot Reproduce Bug
Ok, really strange, after building with maven and forcing an update, it now works. There
must have been a bad dependency somewhere which got overwritten with a working
dependency.
Closing as I can't reproduce it anymore

Steps to reproduce:
1) login as a user
2) add a gadget to the dashboard (for example the RSS gadget)
3) click edit gadget
4) notice that there are no text input boxes to change or view the current preferences
