this jira will be resolved to "cannot reproduce" as we chosed to rename the
actual routes to "/g" and "/u". Of course that does not preclude the
need for validating user and group names in the future instead of having it hard coded as
it is now.

Portal names of 'groups' or 'users' should not be allowed, these should
be reserved names since they can be used to create portal site urls which conflict with
group or dashboard urls.
Ie the dashboard url for the root user is http://localhost:8080/portal/users/root/
If I create a portal named 'users' and add a node called 'root' it will
also have the url http://localhost:8080/portal/users/root/
