Without this feature I see that EPP won't get much acceptance. Reason: depending on your requirements you might end up with a lot of portals having a lot of pages with a lot of users with potentially complex group/role relationships. Configuring all this only via the UI will end up in an administartion nightmare. Instead you want to properly test that on a separate system and just deploy the new configuration (as xml files) to production. Currently you would have to wipe out your whole jcr- AND idm-DB (see https://jira.jboss.org/browse/GTNPORTAL-1362 for this other issue). So you would lose all your user data in that case. I think managing the users via the UI is fine as they are registering and are added on the fly. Managing the pages via the UI is nice to have, but managing the pages via configuration files and being able to do so over several releases without dumping your data all the time is just mandatory. Without this fix usage of EPP would be limited to small toy scenarios but it would be a showstopper for enterprise solutions.
