I'd assume that an administrator using that link would know what they're doing...
Especially after having done it several times when using WSRP consumers (as, right now, if
you want to be able to see the remote portlets from newly configured consumers, your only
option is to import applications).

It should be able to add remote portlets without using that link since some people will
not want to use it.
Today there is a tradeoff to find. It's better to be cautious than sorry :)
We discussed that with Julien and Trong, that's the tradeoff we agreed on.

And how/where exactly would these automatically imported portlets go? And why would we
need to make an exception for the WSRP case and not for locally deployed portlets?
There might be a way to get these portlets without them being imported into categories but
it's not clear to me how to do it at this time. Maybe I just need more time to play
with the Application Registry first. I can't help but feel that if it's not clear
how to do this immediately, it won't be clear either for our users. :(

So i guess the whole confusion starts here.
In a typical live project someone would create categories and individually add
applications to the categories (By clicking the + sign). So this can be done for locally
deployed portlet but will not work for remote portlets unless we add that feature (we need
a new Jira for a later version)
