Interesting, which compiler are you using?

I can compile fine both on Java 5 and 6 using Apple JDK

There seems to be a bunch of bugs related to method overloading and generics in Sun's bug database. I am inclined to believe that method overloading is evil like the FAN guys think.

I have just committed a fix for it, try it out.

(1) might fail on some doc generation but as long as the snapshot are published to your local repo you're good.

Also make sure to use the proper maven settings http://hibernate.org/422.html

I use maven 2.0.9 and it works.

converted Hibernate Search to a maven only build. All obsolete ant files are now removed.

either.

Really http://hibernate.org/449.html is obsolete. I am in the process of updating it.
