Agreed, and also thought we should have a way to specify which version of serializer one wants on a specific index.
That's another reason to move to the ServiceManager approach: we'll be able to introduce some form of selection for which service implementation among multiple options in a generic form.
Still, until we have just one version I'd keep it simple; when we'll implement the multiple options, logging the specific impl/version used by each client will be natural.
