We no longer maintain 4.x. If the same issue happens in 5.0 We can address it there. Can you try against 5.0 and see if the same problem occurs. In general 5.0 is much better at logging contextual information in case of a mapping problem for hbm mappings; annotation binding has not undergone this same treatment yet, but that is planned for later.
