I finally understand why you wanted to hook Fongo I forgot it was the in-memory test tool. Add a "fongo" shortcut to the datastore resolution (check out AvailableDatastoreProvider). Also it would be nice to make sure in the test suite that the MongoDB options like @WriteConcern and co. The best is to have the fongo datastore provider in the same module as the mongodb module and run the same test with fongo (not sure how to do that kind of magic in Junit / Maven). Some tests that connect to the MongoDB driver might fail though.
You'll need to go to https://cla.jboss.org and select Hibernate as the project. I think it's a slightly diff wording due to the license difference.
