The spec does not define support for inheritance in regards to entity-listeners. I assume you are confusing the discussion in the spec about finding callback methods for an entity on its supers (super entities and super mapped-superclasses). If you feel I am wrong, please quote the section and passage you believe indicates that spec mandates support for this.

But until I hear otherwise, this cannot be a bug - you are asking for a new feature/improvement.
