Hardy mentions we follow the JBoss "project versioning scheme", but really that is just another way to say "OSGi versioning scheme".
As for me, I understand it perfectly well. OSGi says to use dots for separating all portions of the version. Sorry, quite frankly OSGi is a more important target than Maven.
