So my response to this one is going to be very similar to my response on https://hibernate.atlassian.net/browse/HHH-16858.

I don’t see how it makes sense to write max(enum) and it seems to me that Hibernate quite rightly rejects this. (And I’m happy to see that the error is a good and reasonable one here.)

I don’t think we should do anything to “fix” this.

Instead we can just close this issue.
