Pretty sure this change is causing the duplication of column aliases detailed in HHH-951 when applied to Criteria queries. And to be honest, not sure I like this fix at all. Seems to me the old behavior was in fact correct. If you apply a restriction on a fetched collection association, that fetched collection is filtered. Thats just the way it works, and is supposed to work.
I am going to sleep on this, but I expect to essentially be backing out this fix tomorrow.
