Sorry about that. Based on the test cases, this does affect 5.0. We also simplified it to isolate hibernate and JPA, removing spring-data from the mix.

We've attached the test cases that demonstrate the issue along with their workarounds. We would have done a pull request but we were unclear on which project to submit the request.
