It seems H2 2.0+ removed the identity function as EclipseLink (https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/eclipselink/issues/1393) also has run into this issue. I guess on newer H2 versions we will have to rely on GET_GENERATED_KEYS through the JDBC driver now.
