You're solution seems right, but unfortunately I can't test it yet, because my application is still in Java 7, so I can't install the last Hibernate version (from 5.2 you need Java 8). But we will soon upgrade to Java 8 (in a few weeks) so it's a matter of time.

I don't know really well Hibernate-Envers workflow, have you some place where I can find some diagrams or things like that, because that's interesting to me ?
