And Brett Meyer... the trouble with warning is recognizing all possible invalid combos. That is a tall order. For example, we do no also warn about the combination of @ManyToOne and @Lob or @Embedded and @Natioanlized yet those are clearly invalid combos too.
Also, some form of "remapping" explicit type definition when @Nationalized is present is not a good idea either. Not doing what the user explicitly asked for is never a good idea. And As I said, @Type is an explicitly definition of the type to use.
