Hardy Ferentschik, regarding DecimalMax/Min I've come to think that this not really is an issue. If you decide to work with a non-EL-interpolator, you just can't use these constraints with their default messages. It's not really any difference to custom constraints, you'd have to define an alternative message in your resource bundle which doesn't require EL when working with this interpolator.
