we use Grails and it comes with its own Hibernate plugin, I'm not involved in its development maybe I can trigger an update from their side.

PS: I gave a quick look at the plugin source code it seems they are using 5.1.3 (https://github.com/grails/grails-data-mapping/blob/master/build.gradle#L43) and not 5.1.0 as I've reported.
