Also, my guess is that this is more general problem, not limited only to Duration’s, but for other types where there is preferred JDBC type.

that’s most likely the case since MetadataBuildingProcess has a few more similar calls to adaptToPreferredSqlTypeCode(..) but I’ll defer the confirmation to someone from the ORM team 🙂
