Jan Schatteman noticed this issue was similar to https://hibernate.atlassian.net/browse/HHH-16905, and asked me to take a look at it. I confirmed that the cause of the problems seems to be the same, and happening when copying criteria associations inside an identifier.

I will add your test case to the fix I’m working on to validate this works too.
