I completely agree with that analysis Christian This one comes up a lot. Yes, the code could be better. Unfortunately this parameter expansion is so tightly ingrained into the entire query interpretation process (too soon) that its hard to change at this point without major overhaul. Luckily such a major overhaul is on its way!
