Anyway... I just opened a ticket on the Hibernate ORM JIRA: https://hibernate.atlassian.net/browse/HHH-11550. We'll see where it goes.

About the "entities with public fields" issue, I think I have a fix on our end, I'll be pushing it in a few minutes. Hibernate ORM will still be buggy, but it will be less likely to affect Hibernate Search.
