Jonathan Halliday Following our conversation, I couldn't reproduce the issue (I tried though: https://github.com/yrodiere/hibernate-search/commit/5cea5808635d212b4a43335fdc69f854cc719cf8). I think there may be some other issue than just this weird implementation.
Could you try to do a reproducer?
