It is a bit unclear what we want out of that issue. Assuming the option enabled:
1. should all LOG printed or exception thrown JsonObject be pretty printed?
2. should all documents stored in ES be pretty printed?
3. both?

I can see why 1.
2. seems a bit weird as the data could be partly pretty printed and partly non pretty printed if that settings varies over time.

What do we really want ?
