That would be true if we were using the latest and greatest C3P0 but we haven't had a need to upgrade to 0.9.1 since we moved to Hib 3.2.2 under HHH-2032. This was 5 1/2 years ago and we've never had any issues so it was never on the radar. I think it's probably just a case of catching people off guard as I don't think when the change for HHH-7698 was implemented anyone consciously decided that C3P0 in its current form would no longer be supported even if it had been simply by fluke since Hib 4.0 released.
