You mean with my system network setup? Or the setup in the test. The former works fine afaict.Also, there are not problems with the test using the Alpha1 release of JGroups. Regarding the latter, I am just running the tests unmodified. Since I am new to this JGroups thingy, any pointers on what could be configured wrongly? Are there any requirements which need to be met for these tests to work?

You would have had some useful timing information here but you removed my nice system.out replacing them with logger statements.

Still have them. I just need to enable them. in fact I can now just focus on these log statements (if I wanted to) and also pass them to my most favorite logging sink. Only pros.
