We had discussions on the hibernate-dev mailing list a few months back about OSGi support on the ORM side. The discussion there was specifically using the blueprint pattern as well. The thing to understand is that the "blueprint pattern" is just that... a pattern. It does not mandate using any non-core OSGi contracts.
Unfortunately the developer that was going to help out there has not been able to help any more since. So that discussion is stuck in limbo. But he did start some prototyping. Pretty sure I documented it all on the HHH issue.
