Ok, understood. FYI like we do with Hibernate Validator (and now the JPA API), the CDI team also publishes such patch files for WildFly. We could try using those instead, with the caveat that these patch files have not been tested in combinations. If they work with minimal effort let's try that - if not I'd rather keep such testing out of the master branch.
