Currently, fetch profiles may only be defined using a really ugly set of @FetchOverride}}nested annotations. This is not quite as bad as the format for JPA’s {{@NamedEntityGraph, but it’s close.

But a much better possibility has been staring us in the face: let you use the @Fetch annotation to refer to the fetch profile, instead of the other way around.
