It's just that I actually don't see a strong reason for excluding static methods (apart from being consistent with normal bean validation). Even if validation of static methods may be used rarely, why should we prohibit it if it doesn't really make a difference from a spec perspective? The limitating factor really is the integrating technology. Plus, there actually seem to be potential users, see HV-606.
