Are you sure you are using 6.0.10.Final? I don't have a TypeAnnotationAwareMetaDataProvider there. This one is an old class that has been renamed (so the problem is probably still in 6.0.10.Final anyway).

Could you create a test case using our test case template: https://github.com/hibernate/hibernate-test-case-templates/tree/master/validator ?
